Pujehun, Sierra Leone – January 30, 2026: All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer hopeful, Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, has reinforced her party’s grassroots ties during a visit to Pujehun District, a region long regarded as a stronghold of APC support.
Traveling along the newly completed Bo–Pujehun Road, a project initiated under former President Ernest Bai Koroma, Aki-Sawyerr praised the development as a lasting legacy of progress. She emphasized the importance of continuing such infrastructure initiatives to uplift communities across Sierra Leone.
During her engagement, Aki-Sawyerr met with Dr. Whoo, APC Pujehun District Chairman, his executive, and constituency leaders. Her campaign team expressed gratitude for the warm reception and attentive dialogue, noting that the candidate presented a compelling vision for the party’s future.
In a symbolic gesture underscoring the district’s support, the Chairman’s grandniece was named after Aki-Sawyerr, a move the campaign described as a deeply touching act that further cemented bonds between the candidate and the community.
Pujehun, like many southern districts, has historically remained a steadfast pillar of APC. Aki-Sawyerr’s southern regional tour, which included consultations with grassroots supporters, highlighted a unified resolve to strengthen the party and prepare for the 2028 elections.
Her campaign team concluded the visit with optimism, stressing that the APC’s heritage in Pujehun and across the south remains vital to the party’s broader strategy of reclaiming power through democratic means.a
